Macau received an average of over 120,000 visitors a day during this year's Labor Day holiday, according to data from the Macau Public Security Police. A total of 604,395 visitors entered Macau between May 1 and May 5, including the Labor Day holiday in mainland China, Macau's main tourism supply market.

The daily tally for the period was nearly 8% below the 130,000 daily visitors forecast weeks before the holiday by the Macau government's tourism agency.

Friday was 154,006, the highest single-day tally for five days. Holiday Saturday was accompanied by thunderstorms and heavy rain in the mainland Guangdong province, which borders Macau.

The police data does not include source market analysis for inbound visitors.

But they are showing that the border crossing, the inland border between Macau and Zhuhai in the nearest Guangdong province, was the busiest. The border crossing handled a total of 261,805 visitors in those five days.

The second busiest border checkpoint was the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge crossing, which drew a total of 106,499 visitors over the same period.

Nearly a week before the Labor Day holiday season, some luxury hotels at Macau casino resorts already have no rooms available to book for those nights, GGRAsia said, according to a check on its own booking site.

A GGRA local inspection on May 2 saw many tourists in downtown Macau and the new Kotai casino district as well as some of the city's main casino floors.

The most common minimum bet on the baccarat table was between HK$1,000 ($128) and HK$1,500. The new 'Small 6/Big 6' baccarat side bet was also used in the Macau market.
